Multitasking Turning Center & Robotic Loading

CNC Multitasking & Simultaneous Turning

Williams Tool regularly invests in advanced CNC machining tools to give our customers the greatest advantage. CNC multitasking, simultaneous turning machines, and robotic loading systems are just the beginning of the advanced technologies we employ to maximize our productivity and efficiency while further enhancing the quality of our output.

As a leader in precision CNC machining, Williams Tool focuses on combining advanced equipment with process stability to deliver high-value components across demanding industries such as aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing.

Multitasking/Simultaneous Turning with the WY-100II & WY-150

CNC Multitasking & Simultaneous Turning

The new and innovative Nakamura-Tome WY-100II and WY-150 represent the industry standard when it comes to multitasking turning center technology. These state-of-the-art machines each feature two high-rigidity turrets, both offering Y-Axis functionality. In addition to the already significant advantages of simultaneous machining on the left- or right-hand spindles, the introduction of Y-Axis on both upper and lower turrets potentiates further productivity.

This advanced multitasking turning center configuration allows multiple cutting operations to occur simultaneously, significantly reducing cycle times while maintaining exceptional dimensional accuracy.

Whether machining with multiple tools on one side or using both left and right concurrently, customers benefit from drastically reduced production times and better-than-ever accuracy and repeatability.

The WY-100II and WY-150 bring high-speed, dual-turret machining within reach. Here are some of the benefits you can expect:

  • Two turrets and two spindles for finished parts in a single setup
  • Serious machining capabilities for complex geometries
  • Simultaneous turning and milling operations
  • Catcher and conveyor system protects parts from damage
  • Reduced handling improves consistency in precision CNC machining workflows

Robotic Loading

Robotic loading is a high-tech solution to a fundamental manufacturing challenge: it eliminates the time-consuming need for technicians to physically load and unload parts into the collet for machining as they are moved through the shop. Williams Tool maximizes efficiency by using advanced robotics to support scalable precision CNC machining operations across multiple production cells.

Fanuc Robotic Auto Loaders

Multitasking CNC Machining & Robotic Loading

By installing Fanuc Robotic Auto Loaders on 13 of our Hardinge Conquest GT Super Precision Gang Tool CNC Lathes, we have enabled our techs to run multiple machines without the burden of unloading and reloading parts into the machine collets to start the machining process. Now, they can spend their time doing higher-value work such as process optimization, inspection, and continuous improvement of precision CNC machining output.

The Fanuc loaders also pick up finished parts and place them in the appropriate spot to keep them safe from any nicks, dents, or scratches. Our robotic loading systems are highly flexible and can be programmed to handle a variety of different parts, making them ideal for low-volume, high-mix production with frequent changeovers.

This automation strategy strengthens Williams Tool’s position as a modern multitasking turning center production facility capable of maintaining consistency across varied part runs while reducing manual variability.

By integrating robotics into our workflow, Williams Tool moves closer to fully optimized automation across its production lines. Both multitasking machines and robotic loading help reduce cycle times, minimize costly manual labor, improve consistency and accuracy, and increase overall productivity in precision CNC machining operations.

In-Process Quality Control & Closed-Loop Manufacturing

Williams Tool enhances production reliability through in-process inspection and data-driven quality control integrated directly into its CNC workflows. Rather than relying solely on final inspection, critical features are verified during machining using precision probing systems and measurement routines built into the production cycle.

This closed-loop approach is a key advantage in advanced precision CNC machining, using time-based dimensional checks to monitor critical, major, and minor features throughout production. The inspection program automatically alerts operators when tool wear or dimensional drift requires attention, helping maintain process control and consistency. The result is tighter tolerances, higher repeatability, and improved long-term process stability.

By combining advanced metrology with automated machining and multitasking turning center technology, Williams Tool reduces scrap, shortens validation time, and delivers parts that meet stringent aerospace and medical manufacturing standards with consistently high performance.
